I am currently involved in the review, quality control, and analysis of radar-based observations of precipitation gathered during the African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Activities (AMMA) project (summer 2006 in Niger), with focus on convective storm development and propagation during the West African monsoon season. This work will also implement study of convection occurrence in coincidence with the African Easterly Jet.
I grew up in Ohio watching fantastic thunderstorms, where weather is an every day topic of life. This instilled a love of Meteorology in me from an early age - I just didn't realize this.
I earned a Bachelors degree in Physics while attending Earlham College (Richmond, IN) in 1999. After graduation I lived in Washington, D. C., where I worked as a patent examiner. I moved to California in late 2000. I was employed at a server farm in San Francisco for a short period of time before beginning work as an engineering technician in the laser industry for six years. I had wanted to pursue a higher degree since college, but was unsure what to study. I eventually realized I needed to be in environmental science of some kind. I finally came back to my love of Meteorology and decided to attend SJSU to earn my Masters. I plan to continue my education in a PhD program in Atmospheric Science and hope to enter the research field in the future.
