Snow in the Bay Area!

After spending over a month under a big, fat ridge, Bay Area residents were thrilled and delighted to find themselves under a deep trough. This ushered in cooler temperatures as well as precipitation. In fact, it has been cold enough for snow on the surrounding hills. Snow on Mt. Hamilton is not that rare (you might find some here http://mthamilton.ucolick.org/hamcam/ ). But snow is more unusual up on Skyline Boulevard or Summit Road in the Santa Cruz mountains. Conditions were just right for both during the period Feb 18-19 - and as you can see from the photo, Dr. Alison Bridger wasted no time in racing up to Summit Road for a photo op! Was she about to fall backwards and do a snow angel? We'll never know!
